Meet Atlanta Haynes

I am a recent graduate from Gateway Seminary and have obtained a master's in Christian counseling. My undergraduate degree is in psychology from UCCS. I grew up moving often as both of my parents were in the Air Force which moved us to places such as Utah, South Carolina, Colorado, Italy, and Germany. Moving across the country and across the world grew a passion for adapting to new environments and creating new experiences. When I moved to Colorado, I finished my bachelor's degree and then began my master's in counseling. It has been a journey to figure out where I am called to serve as a Counselor and what I want to do but I could not have done it without Christ’s guidance along with the support of my husband and family. It came down to loving people well and allowing Christ to guide the process. Ultimately, He has orchestrated everything in my life for me to be where I am today with the gifts He has given me. Some of the things I enjoy doing are skiing, golfing, playing soccer, and crafting with my Cricut.

More About Atlanta

What led you to become a counselor?

After graduating with my undergraduate degree, I wondered what I wanted to do with my degree in psychology. At this time I was a School Age Program Assistant at Schriever working with military kiddos when it all clicked. I wanted to become a Military Family Life Counselor (MFLC) and work with kiddos through the many challenges they face on a daily basis.

What do you enjoy most about your work as a counselor?

I enjoy seeing people get better. It is a scary thing to ask for help but I enjoy seeing the change in the counselee's lives.

What is one piece of advice or wisdom you find yourself sharing often with clients?

I have had so many incredible mentors along my journey to becoming a counselor, and I happen to share much of the wisdom that I receive.

"God does not call you to things for which he doesn't enable you."

I like to share this because it has helped many of my clients through some tough challenges.
