God's Reality

David Powlison once said that the most horrific psychopathology is sin. Sin affects every aspect of our life. It changes how we see God, ourselves, other people, and our circumstances. We begin to believe that the way we see and experience life IS reality. We are ensnared by a man-devised utopia and when the world can’t deliver or perhaps it does, we are disappointed because it does not ultimately fulfill and we find someone or something to blame.

However, the more we read, believe, and obey God’s word our utopia crumbles, and in its place we receive a hope that doesn’t disappoint, a life that is rewarding, and a love that never fails. We begin to see God as he is, ourselves as God desires, others as we should, and our circumstances for what they are. I don’t know about you, but I want God’s reality.
